Data labeling jobs from home, and the work that comes first

If you are searching for data labeling jobs from home, you are looking at one half of the work that trains AI. Labelling describes data. Collection creates it. GoKuna runs the collection half: short, paid recording tasks you do at home on your phone, each with its reward shown before you start and no experience required.

Labelling and collection, side by side

Data labelling, also called data annotation, means looking at data someone else gathered and describing it: drawing a box round every car in a photo, tagging the emotion in a sentence, transcribing a recording. It is usually done at a computer, often for hours at a time.

Data collection means producing the data in the first place: filming an object, recording a sound, writing a sample, capturing a household task from your point of view. It is done on a phone, in short tasks, wherever you are. Both are paid AI work. They suit different people and different days.

Why collection may suit you better

Collection tasks are short and self-contained. An object video takes about 3 minutes; a handwriting sample about 5 minutes. You do not need a desk, a second monitor or a long block of time, and you do not need to pass a test before you can start.

The brief tells you exactly what a good submission looks like before you begin, and review checks your recording against that same brief. If something is wrong you see the reason and can try again while the task is open.

The collection tasks GoKuna pays for

Every task type has a fixed reward per accepted submission. Object videos: $5.00 per accepted clip. Audio: $6.00 per accepted set. Document photos: $8.00 per accepted sample. First-person video: $10.00 per accepted clip. Long-form video: $20.00 per accepted hour. In-person sessions: $50.00 per session.

Most are recorded at home. First-person household clips are open worldwide, long-form recording and in-person sessions state their region, and each brief shows where it applies before you reserve it.

What you need

You need to be 18 or older, have a phone that records video and sound, and have an email address. No degree, no portfolio and no previous labelling experience are asked for. Sign-up is open worldwide, and payouts work in over 100 countries.

What does help is the same care that makes a good labeller: reading instructions closely and checking your work before you submit it.

How pay works

Each task shows its reward before you reserve it, and that amount is locked when you do. You earn it when your submission is accepted in review, which usually takes under 24 hours. Payouts go through Stripe to your own verified bank account, with no fee and no minimum payout, and usually arrive within a few business days of being sent.

Practice tasks are not paid; they build your track record. Availability and earnings are not guaranteed, because tasks open as collections are commissioned.

Checking any work-from-home data job

Whether it is labelling or collection, a legitimate data job states the pay before you work, never asks you to pay to join, pays into a bank account in your own name and tells you why work was rejected. Be wary of any offer that fails one of those checks.

GoKuna passes all four, and publishes its payment terms in full, including how your recordings are licensed and what happens when you delete your account.

How to start

Sign in with your email; GoKuna sends a sign-in link, so there is no password. Confirm your age and country, agree to only submit media you are authorized to share, and look at what is open. Start with a short task to learn how briefs and review work, then set up payouts from Earnings.

Does GoKuna have data labeling jobs?

GoKuna runs data collection tasks: recording video, audio and handwriting samples to a brief. It does not run annotation tasks.

Can I do data work from home with no experience?

Yes. Collection tasks need no previous experience. Each brief says exactly what to record.

Is data annotation the same as data labeling?

Yes, the two terms are used for the same work: describing data that has already been collected. Data collection is the step before it.

Do I need a computer?

No. GoKuna tasks are recorded on a phone and uploaded from your phone's browser. There is nothing to install.

Is it part time?

It is individual tasks that you pick up when they suit you, so you choose how much time to spend. It is not a job with set hours.

Can I work from any country?

Sign-up is open worldwide and payouts work in over 100 countries. Some tasks are limited to certain countries, and each brief shows where it applies.
