AI data collection jobs
Every AI model that sees, hears or reads the physical world was trained on examples someone recorded. AI data collection jobs are the paid work of recording those examples to a brief. On GoKuna that means short, clearly specified recording tasks you do on your phone, each with its reward stated before you start.
What an AI data collection job is
A team building a model writes down exactly what it needs: a kind of object, a kind of sound, a kind of activity, recorded in a certain way. A data collection job turns that request into a task a person can complete. You read the brief, record what it describes, and a reviewer checks your recording against the brief before it counts.
This is different from data labelling, where you describe data someone else collected. Collection is the step before labelling. It needs no special software or training, just care in following the instructions and a phone that records well.
The kinds of recording GoKuna pays for
GoKuna runs a small set of task types, each with a fixed reward per accepted submission. Object videos: $5.00 per accepted clip. Audio: $6.00 per accepted set. Document photos: $8.00 per accepted sample. First-person video: $10.00 per accepted clip. Long-form video: $20.00 per accepted hour. In-person sessions: $50.00 per session.
Object videos, kitchen audio and handwriting samples take a few minutes each: about 3 minutes, about 4 minutes and about 5 minutes respectively. First-person household clips are open worldwide. Long-form point-of-view recording is open in North America to start, and in-person smart-glasses sessions take place in the New York area.
How a job runs from start to finish
Open the task and read the full brief: what to capture, how long a clip must be, the largest file accepted, the file formats accepted, roughly how long the task takes and how many places are left. If it suits you, reserve it. Your reservation expiry is shown before you record, and you can cancel before you submit.
Record to the brief, preview the result and upload it. You get an email confirming the upload, and review usually takes under 24 hours. The decision is emailed to you. An accepted submission earns the reward that was shown when you reserved it, even if the task changes later. A rejected one comes with the reason, and you can record again while the task is open.
Requirements
You must be 18 or older. Sign-up is open worldwide: you give your email address and country, confirm your age and agree to only submit media you are authorized to share. Some tasks are limited to certain countries, and each brief shows where it applies before you reserve it.
To be paid you set up a Stripe payout once. Payouts work in over 100 countries. If your country is not supported, payout setup tells you, and practice tasks stay open to you.
What makes a submission pass review
Reviewers check one thing: does the recording match the brief? The common reasons for rejection are simple ones, such as a clip outside the stated length, an object partly out of frame, poor light or a voice in an audio task that asks for none.
Keep identifiable bystanders, private information and other people's property out of your recordings unless you have permission. Use the preview before you upload. It takes seconds and catches most problems.
How to start
Sign in with your email. GoKuna sends a sign-in link, so there is no password to create. Confirm your age and country, then look at the open tasks. Starting with a short task is the quickest way to learn how briefs are written and how review reads them.
Set up payouts from Earnings when you are ready. After that, each accepted submission is paid on its own, with no minimum payout and no fee to you.
Are AI data collection jobs remote?
Most are. Object videos, audio, handwriting and first-person household clips are recorded wherever you are. In-person sessions are the exception and say where they take place.
Do I need experience?
No. Each brief says exactly what to record. Following it closely matters more than any background in AI.
How are AI data collection jobs paid?
Per accepted submission, at the reward shown before you reserve. Payment goes through Stripe to your own bank account and usually arrives within a few business days of being sent.
Can I do this alongside another job?
Yes. Each task is separate, and you reserve one only when it suits you. The reservation expiry is shown before you record, so you know how long you have to finish.
What happens to my recordings?
Accepted recordings are kept as part of the delivered dataset and used to train and evaluate machine learning models. You keep ownership and grant a licence for that use.
Is there always work available?
No. Tasks open as collections are commissioned, and each has a limited number of places. Availability and earnings are not guaranteed.
