Selling your data for AI training

AI companies need real-world data, and more of it now comes from ordinary people who are paid for it. Before you sell anything, it helps to know exactly what you are handing over, who can use it, and for what. GoKuna's model is narrow on purpose: you record something new and specific to a brief, you are paid for it once it is accepted, and the licence you grant is written down in plain words.

Selling data versus recording to a brief

Some offers pay for access to things you already have or do: your photos, your messages, your calls, your browsing. With those, it can be hard to know what exactly is collected and where it ends up.

GoKuna works the other way round. Every task is a written brief for one specific recording: an everyday object on a table, the sound of a kettle and a tap, two short phrases in your handwriting, a first-person clip of a household job. You see the brief and the reward before you start, you decide what goes in front of the camera, and you preview it before anything is uploaded.

What you are paid

Rewards are fixed per task and shown before you reserve. Object videos: $5.00 per accepted clip. Audio: $6.00 per accepted set. Document photos: $8.00 per accepted sample. First-person video: $10.00 per accepted clip. Long-form video: $20.00 per accepted hour. In-person sessions: $50.00 per session.

You earn the reward when your submission is accepted in review. The amount shown when you reserve is locked, even if the task changes later. Availability and earnings are not guaranteed.

What you keep and what you license

You keep ownership of what you record. When a recording is accepted, you grant GoKuna a licence to use it for training and evaluating machine learning models, including on behalf of GoKuna's customers. That is the use; the payment terms state it in one sentence you can read before you begin.

Accepted recordings are kept as part of the delivered dataset. You can delete your account at any time, which removes your profile and any recordings that have not yet been accepted.

What GoKuna asks of you in return

Only submit media you are authorized to share. That means your own recordings, of your own things or of things you have permission to film. Keep identifiable bystanders, private information such as letters and screens, and other people's property out of frame unless you have permission.

Kitchen audio tasks ask for no voices. Handwriting tasks ask for nothing personal in the words. Briefs are written so that what you sell is the recording the task needs, not details about your life.

Questions to ask before you sell any data

Whoever you sell to, get clear answers first. What exactly are you handing over, and can you see it before it goes? Is the price stated before you do anything? What licence are you granting, and for what use? Can you delete what has not been used yet? Who holds your bank details?

On GoKuna: a recording made to a brief, previewed before upload; a reward shown before you reserve; a licence for training and evaluating machine learning models; account deletion that removes recordings not yet accepted; and bank details held by Stripe, never by GoKuna.

Your account data

Signing up asks for your email address, your country and confirmation that you are 18 or older. There is no password; you sign in with an emailed link. Product analytics are optional and ask for your consent, and they exclude your media and your email address.

Bank details go to Stripe, which handles payouts and verifies your identity and account directly. GoKuna never sees your bank details.

How to start

Sign in with your email, confirm your age and country, and agree to only submit media you are authorized to share. Open tasks, their briefs and their rewards are listed once you are signed in. Read a brief in full, reserve it if it suits you, record, preview and upload.

Set up payouts from Earnings once. After that, each accepted submission is paid on its own, with no fee and no minimum payout.

Can I sell photos or videos I already have?

GoKuna pays for recordings that match a specific task brief. Each brief says what to capture and how, so start from the brief.

Can I take my data back?

You can delete your account at any time. That removes your profile and any recordings not yet accepted. Accepted recordings stay part of the delivered dataset under the licence you granted.

Who buys the data?

Teams training and evaluating machine learning models. GoKuna runs and pays for every task, and accepted recordings may be used on behalf of GoKuna's customers.

What personal details does GoKuna hold?

Your email address, your country and your confirmation that you are 18 or older. Media and email are excluded from analytics, and bank details stay with Stripe.
