AI data collection jobs that use headgear
Some AI data collection work is done with the camera on you rather than in your hand. A head mount or chest mount records what you see as you go about ordinary tasks, and smart glasses put the device right at eye level. GoKuna runs recording tasks that use a head or chest mount, and in-person sessions testing a smart-glasses prototype.
Why the camera goes on your head
A camera held in your hand records what you point it at. A camera on your head records what you actually look at, and it leaves both hands free to do the task. For models that learn how people cook, tidy, fold, carry and reach, that first-person view is the whole point.
Head height gives the closest match to what your eyes see. A chest mount is steadier and shows more of your hands. The brief says which position a task needs.
Head-mounted household tasks
These are short point-of-view clips of ordinary jobs around the home, such as cooking, tidying and laundry, filmed with a phone or action camera mounted at head height. They pay $10.00 per accepted clip and are open worldwide.
Each clip covers one activity from start to finish. Keep your hands and the work in frame, move naturally rather than performing for the camera, and keep other people out of shot unless they have agreed to be filmed.
Long-form recording from a head or chest mount
Long-form tasks record longer stretches of everyday life, showing normal activity as it happens rather than staged scenes. They pay $20.00 per accepted hour and are open in North America to start.
Longer recording raises the privacy stakes. Plan where you will go and what the camera will see. Turn screens and documents away, avoid filming identifiable bystanders without permission, and only submit footage you are authorized to share. Preview before you upload.
In-person smart-glasses sessions
Smart-glasses sessions are different: they are in person, in the New York area. You try out a smart-glasses prototype built to help with hearing loss and describe how well it works. Each session pays $50.00 per session.
These sessions are listed like any other task, with where they happen and what they pay shown before you commit.
Choosing and fitting your headgear
Use a mount that holds the phone or camera firmly, so the picture stays level when you bend or turn. Before your first paid task, record a short test while doing something simple and watch it back. Check that your hands are in view, the horizon is level, and the light shows what you are doing.
Make sure you can still meet the brief's file size and formats. Long clips from an action camera can be large, and the brief states the largest file it accepts.
Comfort and safety
Headgear should never make an activity riskier. Do not record while driving, and take the mount off for anything where it could catch, slip or distract you. Stop if the mount becomes uncomfortable; a clip recorded while you keep adjusting it will not pass review anyway.
For long recordings, start with a full battery and enough free storage for the length you plan. A spare battery or a small power bank keeps a long-form session from ending halfway through.
Review, pay and how to start
Every recording is reviewed by a person against the brief, usually within 24 hours, and the decision is emailed to you. Accepted recordings earn the reward shown when you reserved. Payouts go through Stripe to your own bank account, with no minimum payout and no fee.
To start, sign in with your email, confirm you are 18 or older, enter your country and agree to only submit media you are authorized to share. Open head-mounted tasks, their instructions and their rewards are listed once you are signed in.
Does GoKuna send me the headgear?
The brief lists the setup a task needs before you reserve it, so you can check you have it. Household tasks accept a phone or an action camera mounted at head height.
Can I use a chest mount instead of a head mount?
Long-form tasks accept a head or chest mount. Household tasks ask for head height. Follow the brief for each task.
Do headgear tasks pay more?
Rewards are set per task, not per piece of equipment. Head-mounted household clips pay $10.00 per accepted clip, long-form recording pays $20.00 per accepted hour and smart-glasses sessions pay $50.00 per session. Each reward is shown before you reserve.
What if the mount slips mid-recording?
Stop, fix the mount and record again. A clip that loses sight of the activity partway through is unlikely to match the brief.
Where are the smart-glasses sessions?
In the New York area. Each session pays $50.00 per session.
Will my face be in the footage?
No. A head or chest mount looks outward from you, so the footage shows your hands and surroundings.
